Web Browser addons

Just to keep Microsoft happy about the linking policy, this site or any other sites I’m involved with are not affiliated with Microsoft, Internet Explorer, Outlook Express, Windows Media Player, Bill Gates, his mum, his cousins uncles stepdog thrice removed. The logo is to click on so that you can download Internet Explorer if you may wish to do so, it would be foolish of me to fault the almighty Internet Explorer with it’s flawless security and massive amount of features, Firefox and Opera are mere minions to the God of Browsers with their pitifully immense communities and tirade of themes and extensions. Because of this, the Internet Explorer button must be placed on it’s own, with no accompanying text and nothing within at least 20 pixels of it’s awesome presence.

Get Internet Explorer 7

Spreadfirefox Affiliate ButtonFirefox is fast becoming popular and with some fairly decent security that can be made stronger through addons and/or extensions, more people are using it as their main browser.

Opera web browser - downloadNow on Opera 9.62, it’s the most secure browser. Maybe that could be due to it’s relatively small userbase or just the way it’s coded, but it still takes 2nd place to Firefox due to not having the ability to add extensions (no, widgets are not extensions, they don’t add any extra functionality to the browser).

Addons for IE:
IE7Pro – Adds quite a lot of good functions to IE that you would find in Firefox. If you don’t want to change from IE, it would be wise to get this.
Google Toolbar – adds more functionality in the way of better searches and quicker shortcuts.

It would be silly adding every addon for Firefox here, so here is my personal top 10 Firefox extensions:
Adblock Plus – Essential for blocking things you don’t want to see, even better that it pisses off someone sad enough to make this site.
Secure Login – Firefox’s password system can be a bit of a security risk, this is where Secure Login can stop Firefox automatically entering usernames and passwords into the boxes. It’s similar to Opera’s ‘Wand’ feature, good for stopping phishing attempts.
NoScript – Malicious javascript can be a security nightmare and is the main cause of hackers taking over computers, stealing information and putting other naughty things on your system that can cause a lot of trouble. NoScript blocks unwanted javascript which stops naughty scripts.
Fasterfox – Tweak Firefox to run faster and better with the ability to cache links in the background so that when you click a link, the page it’s linked to will load up faster.
DownThemAll – There’s no need for separate download managers when you have DownThemAll, a great extension that allows you to pretty much download anything from anywhere (except YouTube vids, that’s a different extension).
Speed Dial – One of the features I liked about Opera was the Speed Dial page that allowed you to save up to 9 ‘favourites’ on a page of which you could just click on the image to go to the site. The images can be refreshed to show if the page has been updated.
FireFTP – If you don’t want to bother with a separate FTP program, then FireFTP is a great alternative featuring all you need to transfer files like you would with any other FTP program.
FoxyTunes – If you like to listen to music while surfing the net, FoxyTunes can enhance that experience for you by working with almost any media player and having the ability to fetch lyrics, covers and more.
VideoDownloader – This is the extension you need if you want to save videos from YouTube and other sites including DailyMotion and Break.com.
Google Toolbar – Yes, I know I put this in IE addons too, but it’s a worthwhile addition to Firefox as it adds more functions to the browser.
