IM/E-mail programs
If you’re in need of a program that enables you to keep in touch with people, then the following list will enable you to do just that. Click the images to go to the site where you can download the programs.
I might as well start with the grandaddy of them all, people ask, “Are you on MSN?” or “What’s your hotmail address?”, assuming that you have MSN messenger or as it’s now known as, Windows Live Messenger. Probably the most used program by people that like to chat with friends and family.
If you need a program that allows you to chat on other IM platforms,
Pidgin does it all. Instead of having multiple programs open to chat on MSN, Yahoo, ICQ, IRC and even Google Talk, Pidgin handles it all. Not only that, it’s totally free to use and keeps system resources low.
A great way to keep in contact with people that don’t have an IM program is via E-mail. A great way to read and send email is through a good client, that’s where Thunderbird comes in handy. It can also be used as an RSS and newsgroup reader, you can set it to learn how to filter out spam that you don’t want and sorts out suspected phishing scams.
