Entertainment Breakdown

Entertainment

Despite having the 3 main consoles, cable TV, games that haven’t even been released yet, blu-ray movies and TV capable of full HD, why do I find myself wondering what to do?

I usually tend to go back to the same old thing that gives me most pleasure, The Sims and now that I’ve ordered The Sims: Medieval Collector’s Edition, that will take up even more time that I could be playing other games and movies, but I probably won’t get it until Monday, so I have the weekend…

The Game Collection, How Not To Handle DVDs

I was pretty excited to see that I could get three Limited Edition Simpsons DVD sets for £20, so I ordered them as soon as I saw the info that someone had tweeted, then I figured that it wouldn’t take long for them to get here since they like to boast next day delivery.

They? The Game Collection who, as the name of the website suggests, deal mainly in videogames, but like so many other sites, also sell DVDs of which I had seen the bargain offer. They say they will deliver pretty much the next day, like other sites do if you order before a certain time, but instead, came a day later than anticipated. No biggie, it was still within an acceptable time and so that’s not really the issue here.

Cheryl Cole, Natural Beauty

Despite what people say or think of Cheryl Cole or Tweedy as I think she’s gone back to being known as, I’ve always thought that she is so beautiful. The picture below is from virginmedia.com (my homepage) which was part of a feature on which celebrities are naturally beautiful without having a tonne of make-up plastered on them and I have to say, I think she is gorgeous without being all dolled up.

Captains Log, 170211

Total Left 4 dead Island
I need to start blogging earlier in the day instead of like, the last 30 minutes or so before midnight.

Nothing particularly exciting has happened and now it’s the end of the day where I think I’m just gonna lay down and watch some TV for a while.

Even Twitter has been relatively quiet with only orgasms of Dead Island being the highlight.

Have fun and see you in the funny pages (or at least, tomorrow for my next Post a Day 2011 post).

Awards Ceremonies

BAFTA 2008

Do we really need so many? From what I can tell, there are two running right now as I’m posting, BAFTA‘s and the Grammy’s, yet I hold no interest in either of them because I don’t care who wins what, it doesn’t make that program or film any more appealing to me.

I’ve seen something about the pointless, talentless oompa-loompa also known as Snooki was on the red carpet at the Grammy’s and apparently Jersey Shore has won something, just a pity it wasn’t the worst program, ever, but that could go to anything with Katie Price (Jordan) in.

It’s nice that TV programs are recognized in a similar way to movies, I just get a bit fed up of the need for so many, I suppose if I was a star or at least a cast member of one of the programs/movies that was featured in so many ceremonies, I wouldn’t complain. Anyway, good luck to whoever, I’ll read about it tomorrow, if I can be bothered…

Have you ever lied about your age? Why?

Screw You, Jack Thompson

Although this is a suggested topic, it kind of ties in with what has apparently caused a bit of a stir lately on TV. A program where a woman goes around shops to judge them on their service and whatnot, went into GAME, a shop that sells mostly videogames and was apparently appalled that the guy behind the counter asked for ID and refused to sell the game to that person.

I’ve lied about my age, even as early as 11 when I managed to get into a nightclub on holiday and I’ve tended to get away with it most of the time since I looked older, but not for games. I believe that shops/stores should ask for ID if the game is rated 15 or 18 and the buyer looks less than the appropriate age and I also believe that the parents should take responsibility for buying games that are suitable for their children. I don’t buy games for my kids that are out of their age range or not recommended for them, it’s got nothing to do with the ignorant, “ah it won’t hurt them” because, to be honest, it may not hurt them, but other kids due to the child playing violent games lashing out and harming others.

I’m far from being the next Jack Thompson, but I do think most kids can be affected by some videogames. I’m not saying you should buy your son Babysitting Mama (unless he really wants it), just to get games that are age-appropriate. Believe it or not, kids do inadvertently act out and they only copy what they see others do, you know, monkey see, monkey do?! An example can be if they see their dad hitting their mother on a regular basis, it can affect the kid into thinking it’s ok to hit women, I’m not saying they will grow up to be violent rapists, but it will have an effect on their lives.

Let’s not go off a tangent here, the main point of the post is if you’ve lied about your age and I think the main reasons why are;

  1. To get alcohol.
  2. To get cigarettes.
  3. When an older male/female is interested in you.

Bonus: Do you think they believed you?

Most of the time, yes. I got away with buying cigarettes at a young age, mainly because there wasn’t really a strict law as to how old you needed to be. Got away with being able to drink in pubs from around 14 because I seemed 18 at the time and (can’t believe I’m going to say this) when I was 15, I had sex with a 23-year-old and said I was 20, so yeah, I think I was quite believable lol.

So, The Oscars, Eh…

The Social Network

Well the nominations are in and it’s no surprise that most people probably haven’t seen most of the films that are nominated. Here’s my brief take on things…

Best picture

  • “Black Swan” – Apparently very good, but not a front runner.
  • The Fighter” – I hadn’t really heard of this as it didn’t really shout out at me.
  • “The King’s Speech” – Looks boring as shit to me…
  • “127 Hours” – Based on a Real-Life™ event of some guy getting stuck for 5 days before taking drastic measures, quite critically acclaimed.
  • “The Social Network” – Well, we all knew ‘Facebook: The Movie’ was gonna be nominated.
  • “Toy Story 3″ – As epic as it is, this will probably just win Best Animation.
  • “True Grit” – I’ve only seen the classic version, can’t really comment on this.
  • “Winter’s Bone” – Never heard of it.
